As Conference Convener, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to our 2025 South Pacific Educators in Vision Impairment biennial Conference. A much loved and anticipated event on the calendar, the SPEVI conference brings together vision professionals from Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific and the rest of the world to learn, network and socialise. This event is one of the largest gatherings of its type in the region and has a rich history, spanning an impressive 70 years.
In January 2025, the SPEVI community will gather in Brisbane, the vibrant, exciting and very sunny capital of Queensland, the home of the 2032 summer Olympics and Paralympic Games. The University of Southern Queensland, located in the very heart of the city will play host to a plethora of dynamic keynote speakers, concurrent presentations, displays of assistive technology, results of unique research projects and so much more. SPEVI conferences are renowned for their networking opportunities and SPEVI 2025 will be no different. Opportunities to socialise, catch up with old friends and make new ones, experiencing the gems of Brisbane, making lifelong memories will abound, not to mention coming away with new and invaluable knowledge that will benefit students with vision impairment and additional disability.
In keeping with current trends and wanting to welcome as many participants as possible to our great event, you will have the option of attending in person at the University of Southern Queensland or from the comfort of your own home through our special online feed. Those of you attending online will be very much part of the conference with special online only sessions and direct links to networking opportunities available in addition to all the great activities of the conference.

At this time, the conference committee is busy putting together an exciting program of events; these will be shared on our website and social media, together with registration options.
